Living Gratitude

It’s the first Wednesday of the month and that means the Polished luncheon is where I’ll be! If you’re a professional woman living in Dallas (employee or entrepreneur) you have to check this incredible group out. The speaker today talked about techniques of shifting mentally from a negative frame of mind to a positive one to prevent a downward spiral in your day and instead create an upward one. You know the kind where one thing goes wrong and then a snowball effect seems to take place and you feel like the world is out to get you?
How can we respond to something that upsets us or angers us in a way that doesn’t take over the rest of our day?  Have you ever had a horrible traffic morning commute that ended up souring the rest of your day?  I can tell you I have.
It all comes down to responding instead of reacting which means thinking before we take action or speak.  It’s so serendipitous that today I got emailed this quote pictured above from one of my mentors because it’s one thing that top entrepreneurs and success coaches implement to help reverse a negative mindset and create a positive space for opportunity, creativity, and abundance.  When we practice gratituding, or listing things you are thankful for in your life, it shifts the focus away from the bad and towards all the goodness that God has put in our lives.

Action for the day: Make a list each morning of 10 things you are grateful for and spend a few minutes going over the list you have made and thanking God for all those good things.

Remember, we get what we focus on, no what we want.
